Let’s show our support for Damien. The administration has no right to deny the established gender identity of this student. We want him to be able to walk at his graduation.
This makes me want to cry.
Just boosting this again.
So I made a fist
of my heart, hoping
throwing the first punch
would leave me stronger
at monash university in melbourne the women’s department had a bake sale and cupcakes were one dollar for men and eighty cents for women and seventy cents for trans* people to represent the wage gap and heaps of guys kicked off about it being sexist and that’s how i finally understood how hypocritical and ignorant men’s rights activism is
note to self: be angry, anger is righteous, but don’t burn yourself in your desperation to set the world on fire. it’s important and good to be firm in your politics, there are things worth sacrificing for, but don’t be a martyr for your anger. for love, yes, for community, yes, but not for anger.
If you are part of a privileged group and have to constantly demand that somebody in an oppressed group say “not all (insert privileged group here) are like that”
what you are really demanding is that they reassure you that you’re not like that and you’re not being held accountable
which is a cowardly thing to do and also shows the great lengths you will go to in order to avoid examining your role in a toxic system
